2020 2nd & 3rd Dan Black Belt Grading

Saturday December 12th was our Black-belt grading.

Join us and witness our Black Belts demonstrate their strength, flexibility and strive for their 2nd and 3rd Dan Black Belts.

There has been years of preparation to reach this level with some students starting as small children while others have taken a harder journey and began Taekwondo as an adult. You will get to see what it takes to be promoted to a 1st Dan Black-Belt!

There will be demonstrations in Poomse, self-defense, speed training , paddle & bag work along with one step sparing, free sparing and a final test of board breaks along with martial arts demonstrations.
So, join in and watch as our Black-Belts strive for their next level in martial arts.

“Higher Dan grades are not about proving yourself. They’re about showing what years of steady training and reflection have built.”

FAQs

What does a 2nd or 3rd Dan grading represent in Taekwondo?

Second and third Dan gradings recognise long-term commitment, deeper understanding, and continued personal development rather than just technical ability.

Is higher Dan grading about physical performance alone?

No. As students’ progress, emphasis shifts toward maturity, consistency, mindset, and contribution to the training environment.

How long does it typically take to reach higher Dan levels?

Progression varies widely. Time between Dan grades depends on consistency, life circumstances, and readiness rather than fixed timelines.

Does age affect eligibility for advanced Dan gradings?

No. Taekwondo values experience, discipline, and understanding just as much as physical capability, regardless of age.

Why do higher gradings feel more reflective than early belt tests?

As students advance, focus naturally moves from external achievement to internal growth and responsibility within the community.

Is higher Dan grading considered the end of training?

No. Higher Dan grades mark continued learning and deeper involvement rather than completion.
