About Kukkiwon

Power with Purpose has a proud Kukkiwon affiliation. Kukkiwon is known as the World Taekwondo Headquarters and is home to the World Taekwondo Academy. This is where the South Korean Government established the official taekwondo governing organisation in the 1970s.

Today, it represents the peak body for black belt dan certifications globally. The Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul is where taekwondo masters develop, protect and improve the martial arts side of taekwondo. Millions of taekwondo practitioners worldwide look to Kukkiwon practices when preparing for their black belt dan certification.

In May 1973, Kukkiwon and the Korea Taekwondo Association hosted the first-ever World Taekwondo Championships, with 17 countries competing.

Kukkiwon values

At Power with Purpose, we align our club values and culture with the beliefs and value system of Kukkkiwon.

The values include self-restraint, self-sacrifice and service, becoming a model of good behaviour to global citizens.

The Kukkiwon philosophy develops ideal future leaders that are powerful physically, mentally and socially.

We encourage our students to be fully committed to their own personal growth, as advocated by the global Kukkiwon leaders.
