Jade Hill

Jade is a passionate martial artist and has been with Power with Purpose since 2018. She is a first dan black belt at our club and is committed to helping students to unlock their inner potential.

She got into taekwondo when a friend encouraged her to start.

“Taekwondo has allowed me to come out of my shell and continue to strive to be the best version of myself, even when I feel like giving up. There have been some obstacles throughout my journey, like the COVID-19 lockdowns, when I was unable to train with others and had to rely on online learning to continue. But this kept me going.”

Jade also had a knee injury when she graded from high red belt to black belt, which limited her performance significantly. Although she wanted to give up during this trying time, fellow students encouraged her to push through.

“I learned to scale the movements, and if it became too difficult, I helped out others and taught the students instead.”

She is now a dedicated member of our team at Power with Purpose, teaching students and using her knowledge to help others.

Taekwondo’s major focus on respect and perseverance, combined with our philosophy at Power with Purpose to use your skills towards a good purpose, shape Jade’s approach to her teaching style.

“To me, taekwondo is not about the end result, but the journey – the friends we make, the guidance of others, the small victories… but especially the mistakes that we make along the way. We cannot progress if we do not make mistakes. We will never succeed if we don’t try.

My favourite thing about being part of the Power with Purpose team is being able to help and guide others who share the same passion and love for taekwondo, and most importantly seeing the connections that I make with people, and the impact it has on them.”

The most important thing that Jade teaches her students when they start their taekwondo journey is to keep trying even if they make mistakes.

“Perseverance is one of the most important things in life – especially in taekwondo. You’ll never learn if you never take risks. Everyone in taekwondo will support you, not judge you.”

Outside of taekwondo, Jade enjoys adventure sports including dirt track racing. Coming from a sport-loving family, the thrill of watching and taking part in adventure sports is part of her DNA. In her free time, she also enjoys reading and crocheting.

Jade’s proudest achievements in taekwondo are receiving her black belt and winning the Student of the Year award.

“Achieving my black belt is one of the proudest moments in my life because all the hard work I had done in previous years had paid off. Now being able to further my experience and knowledge on this journey brings me joy.”
